I rarely felt happier or sadder than today cos the contrasts is so appalling... was on the train to orchard... to get some books from library... since i was out already... i rarely felt so sad yet happy... happy cos i was just walking around orchard road on a weekday night and there were no crowds around... maybe throngs of tired workers lumbering out of their offices into the trains and buses... i went wisma... and on the first floor near the SISTIC counter there was this exhibition on my favourite dress in which they exhibited quite a few... i didn't really fancy all of them save the pink gown by pearce fionda, the green dress by anthony price and the gorgeous red outfit by John Galliano... its quite resplendent... haha... looking back at those outfits it reminded me of my first true ambition... and that was to become a fashion designer... crazy right? but it was a lost cause as my family is never the sort that will sponsor such wild and unrealistic expectations thus it lapsed... into this forgotten oblivion of fashion... sigh... thinking about it makes me sad.... yet happy to see those beautiful dresses down there... then i went on to orchard library and borrowed a few books... saw a book on the house of givenchy and balenciaga... made me wonder if only i could have such a enchanted life... just to make people beautiful... went for a little walk across IndoChine... i wanna eat there next time... then went to borders... i never felt so good... cos i read so many magazines that i haven't read for such a long time... Elle, Vogue, Wallpaper, World Soccer, FHM, Vanity Fair... GQ, Esquire... etc... had such a fantabulous read... especially the FHM Collections... which featured a showcase of this season's hottest fashion trends off the catwalks of Milan, Paris and New York... London too... I love the French and Italian fashion houses... somehow or another they never seem to have a look out of place... unlike the american and british which can be a little off at times... read the mag till about 10... Elle had an interview w Kylie!!!... and then i had to read wallpaper... ever so hip and cool... terribly exotic... saw a few books that might interest me... then i went home via bus... the ride was lonely and sad... cos everybody is tired after a hard day of work... nobody is talking and everybody seems so dazed... as the headlamps and streetlights flash across the dim bus cabin... one wonders about the race that we are in... everything is so rushed that everybody is tired... nobody has time for anything else... made me feel so melancholic and dreamy... i reached home by stopping at this bus stop... an accident happened there once where a 14 year old boy was knocked dead by an oncoming car as he walked across the road... on tv mobile i was watching the ghost stories of singapore thingy and the ghost story was about a child dying... it made me feel so depressed... that a life could be so easily taken away like this... i was happy to see my favourite things again... but yet it reminded me of the happy times that i spent walking up and down orchard road with wild abandon rebelling and freeing myself from all the control my parents had over me... those times will never come again... cos i paid a heavy price for this taste of freedom... sigh... so ahhoy yet so sad... bittersweet memories indeed... thinking of times long past and more enjoyable... sigh... i love Zhang Qing Fang... i got her Best Hits compilation... and i love the song Feeling Young Everyday....
