Ok... cos i am now stranded in NUS cos my UROP prof has an emergency meeting and mediquiz rehearsals don't start till 2 so i shall now blog to save me from boredom. A few of the shopping highlight of the week. Firstly, the A/W 2004 collections are coming into town and yes i think i have earmarked a few items to get when the xmas sales come into full swing. A lovely blue, white, grey & black striped shirt from Burberry Paragon was very intruguing and elpis also commented on its beauty. At versus, there was surprisingly something which caught my eye but the price was horrendous. 400+ for a plain white shirt that has Versace jeans scribbled in 1 corner. NEVER ever buy luxury goods in Singapore. You can get them for like 30% off their prices here back in Europe. Cos over there everybody uses luxury goods. I would expect a Versace Jeans Couture shirt to go for 150 euro. Anyway at LV it was so opulent and intimidating ( YES I'm always intimidated by that place. cos they never display any price tags at all. OUCH) A simple Damier Belt costs $500 and guess what when i searched online? I found the same item going for US$80. OUCH OUCH OUCH. BUT LV TIES ARE JUST SO WONDROUS! Burberry prices are actually relatively resonable compared to the ridiculous nonsense of LV. And guess what! In DFS Scottswalk they have posters saying that u can buy luxury goods here at 30% off Japan Prices!!!. Anyway, to my irritation i found out that different outlets carry different stuff... thus i must to trawl the 5 outlets of Burberry in Orchard just to have a look at their A/W collection. ARGH! Will do that next week when everything arrives. Stupid website still hasn't showcased the catwalk stuff yet. I want a tie dye shirt! the prada one still intrigues me. Topshop is getting its groove back. Didn't really like the designs of the past but now i think i can buy some stuff from it. i always find Zara disappointing during A/W cos they bring in all their coats and winterwear but there is simply no occasion to wear such stuff here. I think im going plaid mad... everything Burberry's is so cool and so classy. Sorry but im not really a person who admires street stuff cos sometimes u can do it yourself. Paint splashed over a shirt or che guevara's face on a tee who can't do that. But a famous LV monogram or the classic Burberry plaid that was used in world war 1 and still in use today is classic. Eternally timeless and chic. I think i'll get the Damier Belt... its so nice I shall now change my shopping philosophy, i shall only buy token luxury items that are unique and will last. Shall not touch the rest of the trash anymore.

anyway in London i got lost in Selfridges. I'm serious. I got lost in a department store. Even Harrods wasn't that big as Selfridges. Selfridges Men's section is only 1 floor, compared to ladies which were like 2.5? And there were so many things that when i walked from 1 end to another, i didn't know what i ahd seen and hadn't seen. Sigh, Selfridges sale started way before our arrival thus there wasn't anything left. Most appalling was the Burberry section, the shelves were empty, All they had left were 1 or 2 racks. There wasn't even a sales assistant to help out. and it was the rubbish that was left. Stuff that were very non-functional or non-wearable or too big or too small. Regretted not buying a 16 pound t-shirt. Its quite unique and you wouldn't find it over here. Found it on oxford street though. I don't know why but i think the nicest thing now is a pair of white bottoms. It matches almost any color that is ur top to great effect. Need a new pair of sneakers, my old pair is dead. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts! they are from Harrods and they are wonderfully scintillitating. i have a great urge to return to London next summer, its so enjoyable! the sights, the sounds, the shopping everything is wonderful about london. Come to think of it, i might as well have gone over there to study, Singapore is the most boring place on earth now. How many times can u get sick of thornton's ice cream? I think i'm now an Anglo-Francophile. If you think Paris is expensive, wait till u see london. Must go to Bicester Village when i next drop by cos its the designer factory outlet heaven! or i can visit Florence or Milan to drop by at the nearest factory outlets of those famous italian brands. LZ got 2 gucci wallets in London which are cheaper than Singapore by $200. cos it costs less than 100 pounds there! Can u beleive that! Even with the currency exchange, Luxury goods is really Luxury goods in Singapore. In London they have more designs and greater range and its still cheaper. and its from Selfridges. I love Whittards which sells tea and coffee and i bought their instant tea which is wonderful! and their version of Heeren is actually Carnaby Street, from which Ben Sherman hails from. Though u do see his stuff in Topshop. Saville Row is so gorgeous, Single breasted & Double breasted suits lay in the window displays of Richard James etc. Asprey's, Lawrence Graaf, van Cleef & Arpels and de Beers were on Bond St if i recall. Didn't dare step into the doorway, could only window shop. One thing i didn't really like was that all shopfronts were only on the 1st floor, very few high rise shopping centres like Singapore. Sorry not 1st floor but ground floor. Had a wonderful time in the British Museum, Tate Modern, Courthauld Art Institute and the National Gallery looking at all those familar piece of art that we are all so exposed to. will show a few links soon. But for now
