To confess my utmost innocence, I only know and remember Elfriede Jelinek from her movie the Piano Teacher. Which was of course RA and unwatchable in 2001. It stars Isabelle Huppert though, the French Screen legend. Ah, I shall go find this DVD to watch. It is quite a demented show i heard. A short description of the book & film is as follows,

The novel, and the film, tells the story of a veteran piano teacher, Erika, a harsh and demanding taskmistress who indulges her extreme sexual tastes with hardcore pornography and voyeurism. She becomes sexually involved with a student — but only under her terms and dictates.

I don't know her literature oeuvre nor do i remember her very much save the above work and Lust, a novel whose theme we are all too familiar of. I am a literary ignoramus. Sigh. I only knew her via a movie but her bibliography is not really a lot. She writes in many genres from plays to poetry. I must do some research into her writing and figure out what she represents.
