ok just to sum up the weekend as usual. This weekend was relatively fruitful and more so than others because of the increase in spontaneous events that happened. Well, there is firstly the pre-arranged lunch at Jaan which in all honesty wasn't too bad but well, the veal tasted like braised pork and my monkfish tail was actually filling. But the deserts were actually the nicest of all! And i loved my pan fried scallops. But guess what, there was a deceiving english breakfast set that took my breath away.

After Jaan, there was nothing much left except to run around and shop and i couldn't make up my mind so i settled for something much cheaper and way more practical. Though it leaves the avenue open for other purchases. I must say that there is this light that i fancy from ikea. Shall i get it? Shopped too much i must say, but didn't buy much and ended up going back late and barely having enough time to prepare before the DnD later.

Well, onto DnD now, it was a fun filled dinner and dance with lots of surprises and laughter. Most people were decked out outrageously and having a whale of a time whilst the VIPs are as per usual decked out in ther conservative suit and tie arrangements. Which was what i was wearing. But well, so many of my juniors were there and they were all decked out so funnily that taking photos was so much of a laugh and a joy. Especially chris with his see-through shirt and alvin with his safari get up. Dave had snakes and ouyang was the paparazzo.

It all ended quite late and only got back at 2am. But guess what, halfway through the dinner, some of us sneaked out to get a few drinks and its so funny to come back as if we went to toilet. Wine bar was good though but nobody was game for zouk so didn't bother going. Had to rush back home for 7am church anyway. And yeah, Chelsea won. Don't really like tottenham.

Sunday was a rather peaceful day except in the least possible way. A lazy morning compunded by lack of sleep last night forced me to sleep till 12pm which was broken by a short awakening for church. But after that, thats when the fun started. Played some games on my rapidly failing computer which is going to be replaced today in fact so that i can go online again. But the highlight was going for WOMAD. I know this is quite ridiculous but on a whim i decided to go WOMAD with KP and fangz and ashok! Wow its amazing man. I loved WOMAD!

I had the impression that WOMAD was a hippie yuppie place with tons of bohemian influences and well. the stereotype was both true and untrue. But sadly, it was qutie a foreigner event. Local Singaporeans cannot appreciate it i guess. They sit down and watch the performance instead of dancing and grooving. I mean its World of Music Arts and Dance for something right? Well, saw quite a few good performances. One worthy of mention is Wicked Aura Batucada. A local homegrown Singaporean percussion group that does Brazillian Samba, it really rocks the boat man. Their beats are really damn good. DAMN GOOD! Another good one was The Dhol Foundation and Apache Indian and the Reggae Revolution and Les Yeux Noirs and Asere and BIll Cobham. There were also other stuff like Lior, Sheila Madjid and Tinariwen but we didn't manage to catch all of them as there were so many things going on at the same time! I can't help but say that its really good live music and i am speechless about its quality. I think i have fallen in love with brazillian samba beats although technically i am currently in tune with french disco house a la Modjo's lady

latte: no worries ya. Will remember to smile. This weekend helped make a lot of things much better than usual. It will get better from now on.

Now, a song that has captured my heart. Actually quite a few since i haven't blogged for so long but this is currently the most enjoyable. In fact, its is so meaningful. After hearing this song, i don't know what to say anymore. It sort of decribes the feelings i have now. But in due time, i shall hope that i find it too, The Rainbow Connection.

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it,
And look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

All of us under its spell,
We know that it's probably magic...

... Have you been half asleep? And have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
... Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's something that I'm s'posed to be...
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

Laa, da daa dee da daa daa,
La laa la la laa dee daa doo...
