Been watching this show which has been so ridiculously translataed as THE ARCHING CONDOR HEROES. I mean like, can they like follow the hongkongers and call it more elegantly THE LEGEND OF THE CONDOR HEROES? As usual, PRC manages to literally translate everything, even the original meaning is gone. She4 Diao1 Ying1 Xiong2 Zhuan4 is not arching condor but hunting condor you idiots.

Anyway, i won't say that the actors are super pretty but the guys certainly fit the role quite appropriately. I mean, the Guo Jing really resembles the book's guo1 jing4. Not too hard to act dumb and stupid and look the part too. As you all know, Louis Cha novels tend to have a rather chauvinstic slant but the girls are quite chou3 in my opinion. Somehow i feel that this version is not very good despite the better scenary, better effects and even mei chaofeng looks so much better than mu nianci or even huang rong.

But watching this shows rekindles many memories of reading those novels. It was a successful bid to improve my chinese by my teacher back in RI. And yes, it improved leaps and bounds after the incredulously difficult chinese phrases and confucian and taoist verbosities in the book. But i guess my ideal wife should resemble the character of huang rong. Witty, smart, intelligent and in everyway charming. How can one meet such a person? Haiz. Life is not meant to be.
